WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The two teams were even in the second half, but the Washington & Jefferson men's lacrosse team was unable to recover from a 12-2 halftime deficit in a 19-9 loss to Thiel.
The defeat drops the Presidents to 5-9 overall and 4-3 in the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference. Thiel improves to an even 6-6 overall and 4-3 in the ORLC.
Ben Ward (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and
Pat Heidecker (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) each scored three goals, while
Brendan Tribeck (Enola, Pa./Trinity) had three assists, the fourth time he's had at least three assists this season. For Ward, the three goals moved him to exactly 100 career points (67G-33A).
Michael Aaron Pray III (Gaithersburg, Md./Maret School (D.C.)) and
Joseph Tritschler (New Kensington, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) each led the team with five ground balls, while
Nicholas Grosch (Butler, Pa./Butler) snagged four. Tritschler also added a game-high five caused turnovers, with
Lorenzo Ruscitto (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) adding three.
Noah Cohen (Hewlett, N.Y./George W. Hewlett) made 14 saves in goal, the 11th time he's reached double digits in a game this season.
