Kallos fills stat sheet, Presidents pull away from MSJ in second half, 17-10

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Senior Caroline Kallos (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) filled the stat sheet with at least seven goals, ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls as Washington & Jefferson pulled away in the second half of a 17-10 win at Mount St. Joseph.

The Presidents finish the regular season at 12-3 overall with a 10-1 mark in the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference, however, one of those ORLC wins is only via a Thomas More forfeit. W&J will be the second seed in next week's ORLC tournament at Transylvania and will play third-seeded Saint Vincent on Friday in Lexington, Ky.

A back-and-forth first half saw W&J hold a 6-5 lead at halftime, but the Lions tallied the first two scores of the second half to take a 7-6 lead. Kallos and Sofiya Bobrovnikova (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast) just over a minute apart and W&J got the lead back at 8-7 with 26:24 to play.

After MSJ tied the game at 8-8, three-straight Presidents' markers, including the first two from Kallos put W&J ahead for good en route to the 17-10 win.

Kallos took 15 of W&J's 45 shots on the day, tallying seven goals and two assists for nine points. She also added nine draw controls, seven ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Bobrovnikova scored the first hat trick of her career, while also contributing an assists and a season-high six draw controls. Jenna Allen (Sanford, Fla./Seminole) and Graycen Vitale (Gibsonia, Pa./Mars Area) both recorded two goals apiece, as Allen also turned in two assists. Alexis Miller (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) tied Kallos for the game high with seven caused turnovers and also scooped up six ground balls.

Sara Maute (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J Roberts) made 12 saves in goal to improve to 12-3 overall this season.
