Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse records first shutout since 2015 at Franklin, 15-0

FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Presidents posted their first shutout since the 2015 season when they blanked Ohio River Lacrosse Conference foe Franklin, 15-0, on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Washington & Jefferson women's lacrosse team runs its winning streak to five straight ahead of tomorrow afternoon's clash against fellow league unbeaten Transylvania. Those two teams will play in Lexington, Ky., at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, with W&J entering with a 6-2 overall record and 3-0 league mark.

Saturday's win marked the first shutout for W&J since blanking Defiance in ORLC play by a 13-0 count on April 4, 2015. W&J raced out to an 11-0 halftime lead before slowing down to a 4-0 margin in the second half against the Grizzlies.

The Presidents got three goals from three different players and two more added a pair of tallies. Kayla Boulas (North Branford, Conn./North Branford) recorded season highs with three goals and five points, going three-for-four in free-position shots for her first hat trick of the season and third of her career. Alexis Miller (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) notched her fourth straight hat trick, while Rae LaRochelle (East Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) scored the game's first three goals in posting her 20th career hat trick, and the eighth to open up this season. Caroline Kallos (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) and Sierra Meyer (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) both contributed a pair of goals, while Sofiya Bobrovnikova (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast) and Graycen Vitale (Gibsonia, Pa./Mars) each found the back of the cage once.

Kallos added game highs with five ground balls, eight draw controls and five caused turnovers. Katelyn White (Linthicum, Md./North County) was second on the team with three ground balls, while Bobrovnikova's two caused turnovers were second, as were Miller's five draw controls.

Sara Maute (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J Roberts) turned away all six shots on goal for Franklin in posting her first career shutout and improving to 6-2 on the season.
