LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Washington & Jefferson had its 21-match Ohio River Lacrosse Conference regular season winning streak snapped with a 10-7 loss at Transylvania.
The Presidents were undefeated in the conference each of the last two seasons after winning the final league match-up of 2015 against Transylvania. W&J also entered play this afternoon at 3-0 in the league, dropping to 3-1 in ORLC contests and 6-3 overall.
Rae LaRochelle (East Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) and
Caroline Kallos (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) did all of the scoring for W&J, as LaRochelle posted her ninth hat trick of the year and scored four goals and Kallos registered her sixth hat trick of the season with the remaining three goals. Kallos also added an assist.
Kallos tied for the game lead with nine ground balls, with LaRochelle adding five and
Sara Maute (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J Roberts) contributing four. Kallos accounted for five caused turnovers and four draw controls, while
Alexis Miller (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) added three each of ground balls, draw controls and caused turnovers.
Maute set a new career high with 18 saves in goal despite the loss.
W&J will begin a five-match ORLC home stand, beginning on Wednesday, April 11 at 6 p.m. against Thiel.
