WASHINGTON, Pa. --
Michael DeSabato (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) scored his first collegiate goal in Washington & Jefferson men's soccer's 2-1 setback against Frostburg State on Saturday, Sept. 15.Â
The Bobcats opened today's contest on the offensive, as they scored twice in the first 29 minutes. The first goal, in the 13th minute, came from a deep cross that a Frostburg forward headed just out the reach of W&J's keeper
Nick Stasko (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland). In the 29th minute, the Bobcats took a 2-0 advantage with a corner kick that drifted over Stasko into the back of the goal.Â
The Presidents answered in the second half, cutting their margin to just 2-1 with a goal by DeSabato in the 54th minute. The senior's first career tally also came on a corner kick, as he launched the ball to the right side of the box and it took an awkward bounce past the keeper.Â
DeSabato's strike was one of 10 W&J shots in the second half, an eight-shot improvement from the first.
Paul Mokrzan (Hilliard, Ohio/Watterson) led all players with five shots in the tilt, while
Matt Prezioso (Clairton, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) finished second on the team with two attempts.Â
In goal, Stasko played all 90 minutes for the Presidents and made six saves.Â
The Red & Black's four-game homestand continues this week with a 7 p.m. bout against Franciscan on Wednesday, Sept. 19.Â
