WASHINGTON, Pa. --
Caitlin Drahushak (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) netted her first collegiate goal with just 23 second left in Washington & Jefferson women's soccer's 1-0 win over Franciscan on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Alexandre Stadium.Â
Drahushak was at the right place at the right time for the game-winning tally, as she received a rebound off the post on the left side of the box and lofted a shot over the opposing keeper.
Lexey Finney (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) took the first shot that deflected off the post and was credited with an assist on the game winner. Â
The final goal was a continuation of the pressure that W&J inflicted all night, as the Presidents held a 21-2 advantage in shots and an 11-1 lead in shots on goal.Â
Brianna Floryshak (Berwick, Pa./Berwick Area) paced the Red & Black offense with five shots in the contest, two of which were on goal. Drahushak and
Julie Halula (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) finished tied for second on the team with three shots apiece.Â
The Presidents employed both goalkeepers in tonight's bout with
Shayla Watkins (Charleroi, Pa./Charleroi) playing the first half and
Beth Boyles (Dundee, Ohio/Hiland) closing out the game in the second half. Boyles made the team's one save in the game and earned the victory.Â
W&J hits the road this weekend for a nonconference tilt against Carnegie Mellon on Friday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m.
