PITTSBURGH -- The Washington & Jefferson volleyball team stepped out of competition against NCAA Division III programs as it traveled to NAIA-member Point Park, which dealt the Presidents a 3-0 defeat on Tuesday night.
The loss drops W&J to 8-7 after falling by 25-17, 25-16, 25-14 scores. The Pioneers improved to 7-6 with the win.
Madison Lydic (Erie, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) and
Haley Nelson (Warren, Pa./Warren) paced W&J with four kills apiece. A trio of Presidents added three kills each:
Abbey Eich (Greencastle, Pa./St. Maria Goretti (Md.)),
Morgan Jacques (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy) and
Bridget Hart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle).
Makenzie Coughlin (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) was the only President in double figures with 10 digs, while Eich paced the squad with a pair of blocks.
W&J will return to Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Thursday, Sept. 27 when it hosts Geneva at 7 p.m.
