WASHINGTON, Pa. -- A second half goal helped visiting Oberlin break a halftime tie and beat the Washington & Jefferson College women's soccer team by a 2-1 score Tuesday evening at Alexandre Stadium.
The visiting Yeowomen used a fast start to take a 1-0 lead on an goal by Sydnie Savarese in the sixth minute of play. Savarese beat the defense, dribbled into the box and shot into the right corner of the net to give Oberlin the early edge.
W&J countered with a goal from sophomore forward
Katie Hahn (Volant, Pa./Wilmington) in the 22nd minute of play. The Hahn goal, which was set up by an excellent cross from junior
Lexey Finney (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan), tied the score at 1-1.
The score remained even through halftime and into the latter stages of the second half. Oberlin regained the lead in the 73rd minute when Savarese collected a loose ball in the box and finished from five yards out. The visitors were able to make the lead stand up as they earned the 2-1 victory.
Hahn led W&J offensively with her goal and a team-high four shots.
Lexey Finney added an assist and two shots on goal.

Gabriella Lloyd (Butler, Pa./Butler) recorded five saves in 90 minutes of action in net.
W&J hosts Westminster College for the Presidents' Athletic Conference opener on Saturday, Oct. 5. Start time is set for 1 p.m. at Alexandre Stadium.
