WASHINGTON, Pa. -- A strong effort by the Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team allowed the Red and Black to post a 9-0 sweep of Thiel College Friday evening in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center. 
 
The win improves W&J to 7-5 overall and 5-1 in PAC play. The loss drops Thiel to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in conference. 
 
The tandem of sophomore Maya Krishnasamy (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) and freshman Isabella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) secured an 8-3 win at first doubles. 
 
Senior Jade Annaldo (North Kingstown, R.I./Scituate) and sophomore Vanesa Hyde (Manns Choice, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) picked up an 8-4 victory at second doubles. 
 
Caitlin Shellhamer (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) and Megan Berard (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury), the senior duo, claimed an 8-2 win at third doubles to secure the senior day win. 
 
W&J won all six singles matches in straight sets. Krishnasamy won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles while Goldman secured a 6-1, 6-0 decision at second singles. Berard won 6-4, 6-0 at third singles while Annaldo tallied a 6-2, 6-0 victory at fourth singles. Shellhamer rolled 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles and Hyde won 6-1, 6-1 at the number six spot. 
 
W&J wraps up the regular season against Waynesburg on Saturday, Oct 11. Start time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
