PASADENA, Calif -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's water polo team began its annual California trip with matchups at nationally-ranked California Lutheran and La Verne over the weekend.
W&J suffered 17-4 defeat at Cal Lutheran on Saturday and a 13-6 loss at La Verne on Sunday.

How it Happened: The sixth-ranked Kingsmen opened up a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and led 7-2 at halftime. A 7-0 third quarter pushed CLU's advantage to 14-2 going into the fourth quarter. W&J scored twice in the second and fourth quarters.
Top Performers:
Elijah Muzzi (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) scored twice to lead the Presidents.
The Rest:
Will Kitsch (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) and
Cam Spicer (Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) each tallied a goal for the Red and Black.
Robert Koch (Worcester, Pa./La Salle College) handed out a pair of assists.
Zishuo Ma (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos) and
Nick Spehar (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) each recorded three saves in net.

How it Happened: The ninth-ranked opened up a 7-2 halftime lead before scoring four-straight goals to hold an 11-2 advantage going into the fourth quarter. The Presidents scored four of their six goals in the fourth quarter to fall 13-6.
Top Performers: Spicer led the way with a pair of goals while Ma registered eight saves and two steals.
The Rest: Ma, Muzzi and
Andrew Edwards (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) each had a goal.
The Presidents conclude their west coast road trip Monday evening at 9:00 p.m. at Caltech.
