WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The second seeded Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team swept seventh seeded Bethany College 9-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center Tuesday evening.  

The win moves the Presidents to 9-5 overall, as the Red and Black roll into Friday's PAC Semifinals on a seven-match winning streak. W&J will rematch with third-seeded Westminster College at 4 p.m. at the Swanson Tennis Center. The Presidents secured a tight 5-4 win in the regular season matchup with the Titans. 

The Presidents did what they needed to do in doubles play, easily running away with all three matches to take an early 3-0 lead. Sophomore Maya Krishnasamy (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) and freshman Isabella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) won by an 8-1 score at first doubles. At second doubles, senior Jade Annaldo (North Kingstown, R.I./Scituate) and sophomore Vanesa Hyde (Manns Choice, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) claimed victory by an identical 8-1 score. The senior duo of Caitlin Shellhamer (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) and Megan Berard (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) blanked their opponents at third doubles by an 8-0 margin. 

W&J registered wins in all six singles spots, with each victory coming in straight sets. Krishnasamy won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles while Goldman tallied a 6-2, 6-2 victory at second singles. Berard secured a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the third spot. Shellhamer (6-0, 6-0) and Hyde (6-0, 6-0) won easily at the fifth and sixth spots, respectively.  
 
Top seeded Grove City College will face either fourth seeded Geneva College or fifth seeded Saint Vincent College. The GT's and Bearcats will face off Wednesday night in the final PAC Quarterfinal matchup. The winner gets a date with the Wolverines on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.
