WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory over Penn State Behrend in a non-conference match Wednesday evening at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center. The victory extended the Presidents winning streak to four straight. 

W&J swept its way through doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead. The top tandem of sophomore Maya Krishnasamy (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) and freshman Isabella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) picked up an 8-1 win at first doubles. Meanwhile, sophomore Vanesa Hyde (Manns Choice, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) and senior Jade Annaldo (North Kingstown, R.I./Scituate) won 8-1 at second doubles. At third doubles, the senior duo of Caitlin Shellhamer (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) and Megan Berard (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) breezed to an 8-0 decision. 

Krishnasamy (6-1, 6-1), Goldman (6-2, 6-1), Berard (7-5, 6-3), Annaldo (6-1, 6-1) and Shellhamer (6-0, 6-1) registered straight set victories in singles play. 

With the win, W&J improves to 6-5 overall. The loss drops Penn State Behrend to 1-11 for the season. 

The Presidents will host Thiel College on Friday, Oct. 11. The match will serve as Senior Day for Annaldo, Berard and Shellhamer. The match will get underay at 6 p.m. at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.
