WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's lacrosse team suffered a 17-3 non-conference loss to Drew University Wednesday afternoon at Alexandre Stadium.
The visiting Rangers led 11-0 at halftime before outscoring W&J by a 6-3 margin during the second half.
The Presidents received a goal each from sophomores
Graycen Vitale (Gibsonia, Pa./Mars Area) and
Sofiya Bobrovnikova (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast), while freshman
Piper Schinsky (Princeton, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) also registered a score.
Junior
Rae LaRochelle (East Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) recorded a team-high five shots and corralled three draw controls.
Freshman
Clara Sherwood (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) picked up a team-high five groundballs, while junior
Alexis Miller (Carlisle, Pa/Cumberland Valley) and senior
Allison Onslow (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) tallied four caused turnovers apiece.
Junior
Sara Maute (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) made nine saves during the first half of action in goal.
The loss drops W&J to 0-3 this season, while Drew improves to 5-0. The Presidents host Juniata College on Saturday, March 9. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
