WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's lacrosse team shutout Franciscan in the first half to secure a convincing 15-4 win over the Barons in PAC action on Saturday, April 13.

With the victory, the Presidents improve to 5-7 overall and 3-1 in the conference, the second best record in the league standings. Franciscan drops to 5-5 overall in 2019 and 2-1 in the PAC.

It did not take long for the Red & Black to get on the board, as
Alexis Miller (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) scored just 44 seconds into the game. That goal was the first of five for W&J in the first five minutes.
Rae LaRochelle (East Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich),
Clara Sherwood (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) and
Piper Schinsky (Princeton, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) all scored in the stretch.

The Presidents added four more scores before the end of the half, taking a 9-0 lead into the halftime break. LaRochelle scored twice over the run, tallying her 200-career point mark with her third goal of the day. She became the fifth Red & Black player to reach the 200-point plateau.

The second half also went in W&J's favor, as it outscored the Barons by a 6-4 score over 30 minutes. A 4-0 run for the Presidents to end the game sealed a 15-4 conference win for the home team.

LaRochelle finished the afternoon with a game-high seven points on five goals and two assists. The East Sandwich, Mass. native leads the Presidents with 57 points and 43 goals this year.

Bobrovnikova, Schinsky and Sherwood all finished next on the team with four points each. Bobrovnikova and Schinsky both logged two goals and two assists, while Sherwood tied a season-high with four goals. Â

Rounding out W&J's multi-point scorers were Miller and
Kayla Boulas (North Branford, Conn./North Branford) with one goal and one assist apiece.

In goal,
Sam Lenfesty (Frederick, Md./Frederick) played a full 60 minutes and made 12 saves on 16 shots on goal. Today's game is the rookie's first with double-digit stops and it marked her second career win.

The Presidents return to the turf on Thursday, April 18, for a road 5 p.m. tilt against Bethany in Bethany, W. Va.
