WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's tennis team picked up an 8-1 win over Geneva College in Presidents' Athletic Conference play Wednesday evening at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center. 

The Presidents improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The loss drops the Golden Tornadoes to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in PAC matches. 

W&J swept through doubles play to race out to a 3-0 lead over Geneva. Nate Wang (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and Sam Bellini (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) tallied an 8-1 win at first doubles while Stephen Mehlbaum (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) and Max Perilstein (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham Township) secured an 8-4 win at second doubles. Josh Hnat (Dubois, Pa./Dubois) and Ruchir Gupta (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Central) pulled out a tight 8-7 decisiion at third doubles. 

The Presidents claimed wins in five of the six singles matches to roll to victory. Wang won 6-4, 6-2 at first singles while Bellini registered an easy 6-1, 6-1 at second singles.  Mehlbaum was victorious by a 6-2, 6-2 score at third singles and Perilstein eased his way to a 6-0, 6-2 decision at fourth singles. Gupta picked up the final win of the night for the Presidents, fighting back to secure a 1-6, 6-3, 10-8 victory at the sixth spot. 

W&J hosts Saint Vincent College for a PAC match on Friday, April 5. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
