PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson college men's soccer team opened its season with a decisive 4-0 victory at La Roche on Saturday afternoon.
The Presidents seized an early advantage with the first shot of the season turning into the first goal of 2019 with
Thomas Einolf's (Carlisle, Pa./Middlwtown) goal in the second minute of action.

Christian Payne (South Park, Pa./South Park) in the 14
th minute to hand the Presidents an early 2-0 advantage.
In the second half,
Michael Komaniak (Oakmont, Pa./Riverview) found the back of the net twice in two minutes, scoring the 74
th and 75
th minutes to push the game out of reach for La Roche. Freshman
Dylan Mayanja (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) earned his first collegiate assist on Komaniak's first tally.
As a team, the Presidents outshot the Redhawks 16-7, including an 11-2 edge in shots on goal.
Junior
Ian Donlon (Lathan, N.Y./Albany Academies) and sophomore
Samuel Miller (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) combined to shut out La Roche. Donlon earned the start and made two saves in 74 minutes of action. Miller played the final 15:16 to preserve the clean sheet.
In total, 26 players saw the field for the Presidents in the opener. Komaniak and Einolf each turned in multi-point days, while Payne led the Presidents with five shots, all of which were on target.
W&J recorded seven corner kicks while holding the Redhawks without an attempt.
The Presidents welcome Pitt-Greensburg for their home opener on Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m.
