STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team snapped a three-game scoreless streak but fell short at Franciscan 6-1.
 
The Barons (3-1-1) struck first with a tally in the fifth minute of action.
 
Sophomore Dylan Mayanja (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) attempted W&J's only shot on frame for the half in the 25^th minute but was turned back by goalkeeper Brain Gaughan.
 
The Barons opened up a 2-0 lead with another goal in the 36^th minute. 
 
Late in the first half, Junior Mensah (Chantilly, Va./Broad Run) laced a cross from the left side inside the 18-yard box. Alex Molina (Bowie, Md./Reservoir) went to play the ball off his chest but was pushed down from behind, awarding the Presidents a penalty kick.
 
Mensah converted on the PK for his first goal of the season in the game's 42^nd minute.
 
Franciscan found a third goal in the final minute of the half to carry a 3-1 advantage into the halftime break.
 
Joey Feola (Carnegie, Pa./Central Catholic) fired shots on frame in the second half in the 72^nd and 78^th minutes.  He led the Presidents in shots (4) and shots on goal (2).
 
The Barons notched another three goals in the 53^rd, 57^th and 86^th minutes to come away with the 6-1 victory.
 
The Presidents outshot Franciscan 12-10 while the Barons held a 7-5 edge in shots on goal. W&J collected nine corner kicks to none for Franciscan.
 
W&J (2-4) concludes its three-game road trip at Marietta on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
