WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to the University of Mount Union in a non-conference match Friday afternoon at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.
W&J opened the match by dropping two of the three doubles matches. The lone President win in doubles play came at first doubles where sophomore
Maya Krishnasamy (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) and
Isabella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) earned an 8-3 victory.
Krishnasamy added a straight set win in singles play, as she defeated Jordan Teaford by a 6-3, 6-4 score. The Presidents picked up another win at fifth singles, where senior
Caitlin Shellhamer (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone) secured a victory in a third-set tiebreaker. Shellhamer won 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (10-3).
The Presidents travel to Saint Vincent College for a Presidents' Athletic Conference match on Sunday, Sept. 29. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
