LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Washington & Jefferson College wrestling team made its second appearance at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville on Friday.
 
The Presidents squared off with No. 15 RIT, No. 19 Wisconsin-Whitewater and Alma during competition on Friday in Kentucky. 
 
In W&J's first match of the day, the Presidents were downed by RIT by a 34-10 score.
 
Michael Heinl (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) led the way with a 12-2 major decision over the Tigers' James Orst at 149 pounds. Manny Dovshek (Scenery Hill, Pa./Bentworth) collected a forfeit at 125 pounds.
 
At 165 pounds, Jared Walker (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) was topped 5-2 by RIT's Kaidon Winters in a matchup of nationally-recognized wrestlers. Winters entered as the third-ranked 157 pounder in the d3wrestle.com rankings while Walker entered No. 8 at 165 pounds.
 
Following the RIT match, the Presidents matched up with another nationally-ranked opponent in UW-Whitewater. The Warhawks emerged with a 39-7 victory.
 
Hunter Neely (Cokeburg, Pa./Bentworth) collected a 15-7 major decision over Ryan Vedner at 174 pounds. Jaden Datz (Ruffs Dale, Pa./Southmoreland) added an 8-2 decision at 184 pounds.

W&J closed out the day with a narrow 25-21 loss to Alma College from Michigan. The Presidents picked up five victories against the Scots, three by major decision, one by decision and one by forfeit. 

Heinl picked up a victory by a 7-1 decision over Mason Priest at 149 pounds. Zach Schrott (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) then added a forfeit win at 157 pounds for W&J. 

Neely posted an impressive 15-6 major decision victory over Lucas Brewer at 174. Datz then registered his second victory of the day, scoring a 10-2 major decision win over Dylan Seaton at 184. Alex Donahue (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) tacked on another major decision victory for the Presidents. Donahue topped Clayton Dodd of Alma by a 15-3 score at 197 pounds. 

Heinl, Neely and Datz finished the day with two wins apiece for the Presidents. 

W&J travels to Thiel College for a PAC dual matchup with the Tomcats on Thursday, Jan. 16. Start time is set for 7 p.m. in Greenville.
