Wrestling Wraps Up Regular Season in Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College wrestling team secured a 2-1 day at the Penn College Duals in the Presidents' final tune-up before the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships on Feb. 15.
 
W&J collected wins over Penn College (37-11) and Lackawanna College (52-6) but fell to Oswego State 33-16. The Red and Black conclude the season with a 9-7 record in dual meet action.
 
Senior 149-pounder and national contender Michael Heinl (Glensahw, Pa./Shaler) posted another 3-0 day, with bonus points in every win. He secured a 19-1 tech fall against Penn College's Lukas O'Connor, a 10-1 major decision against Josh Bressette of Oswego State and an 11-0 major decision vs. Lackawanna's Rodney Driscoll. With his Saturday effort, Heinl moved into a tie with W&J Hall of Famer Kevin DeJuliis ('03) for second in program history with 117 career wins.
 
Daniel Florentino (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) went 3-0 at 141 pounds, sticking his Penn College and Lackawanna opponents and taking an 8-6 decision against Oswego's Colby Harblin.
 
At 197 pounds, Alex Donahue (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) snagged a 12-4 major decision against Jalen Edwards of Penn College and won by fall over Lackawanna's Jayden Bortz in the first period.
 
Manny Dovshek (Scenery Hill, Pa./Bentworth), Zach Schrott (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) and Raheem Clemons (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) each recorded on win via pinfall on the day.
 
The Presidents are idle until the PAC Championships in the Salvitti Family Gymnasium. The Presidents last captured a PAC title in 1999.
