WASHINGTON, Pa. – Senior goalkeeper
Noah Cohen (Hewlett, N.Y./George W. Hewlett) recorded 28 saves as the Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team dropped its opener to Kenyon 11-2.
Cohen's 28 saves are the most for a President goalie since he made 33 stops against Wooster as a freshman in 2017.
Neither team produced much offensively in the first half as Kenyon tallied a single goal in the first and second quarters to lead 2-0 at halftime. Cohen had 15 saves by the halftime break.
The Lords scored three times in the first five minutes of the second half to extend their lead to 5-0.
Alex Strain (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) and
Brendan Tribeck (Enola, Pa./Trinity) responded with back-to-back tallies less than 90 seconds apart to trim the deficit to three goals with just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter. Kenyon tacked on another goal to carry a 7-2 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Lords outscored W&J 4-0 in the fourth to secure an 11-2 victory.
Strain finished with two points as he assisted on Tribeck's third-quarter score. In addition to Cohen's saves, he paced the Presidents with four ground balls.

Jake Duda (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and
Shawn Wallbillich (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) both had three ground balls and two CTs.
W&J returns to action Wednesday afternoon when the Presidents host Moravian at 4:00 p.m.
