GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Senior midfielder
Thomas Einolf (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) knocked home the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Thiel Tuesday evening in Mercer County.
The W&J win keeps hope alive of qualifying for the upcoming PAC Tournament, as they improve to 3-4 PAC play. The loss drops the Tomcats to 1-5 in the league.
This was W&J's first overtime game this season. They picked up their fifth consecutive win over the Tomcats.
The Presidents took a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute of play on a goal by senior
Joey Feola (Carnegie, Pa./Central Catholic). The goal was Feola's second of the season.
Thiel evened the score at 1-1 in the 69th minute when Ryan Harcourt scored after receiving a pass from Brock Newsome just outside the box. Both teams had chances to score the go-ahead goal in regulation but were unable to do so and the match went to overtime.
In the 98th minute of play,
McKinley Joseph (Stamford, Conn./King School) deflected the ball to Einolf, who collected it before dribbling in and launching the ball into the top left corner of the net. The goal was Einolf's first of the season.

Quinn Pickering (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) recorded two shots for W&J.

Sam Miller (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) picked up his fourth win of the season while recording four saves throughout 90 minutes.
W&J held a 22-12 edge in shots and a 13-5 advantage in shots on goal. W&J held an 8-6 lead in corner kicks.
W&J travels to Beaver Falls, Pa. on Saturday, Oct. 23 to face PAC rival Geneva at 7 p.m.
