BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Five different Presidents found the back of the net as the Washington & Jefferson College women's soccer team earned a 5-2 victory at Geneva College on Saturday evening.
The five goals are a season-high for the Presidents, who earned their third straight victory. The win moves W&J to 5-2-1 in conference play and 8-7-2 overall. The victory locks up a top four spot and home game in the upcoming Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament for W&J.
The loss drops Geneva to 4-4 in league action and 5-11 overall. The GT's will face Waynesburg in the regular season finale with the winner earning one of the final spots in the PAC Tournament.
Makenna Mann (Herndon, Va./South Lakes) tallied a goal in the 26th minute of play to get the Presidents on the board first. The goal was Mann's second of the season and was assisted by
Peyton Behling (Annapolis, Md./Severn School).
W&J wasted little time in adding to its lead, as
Katie Brown (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) scored for a second time this week. Brown headed the ball into the net off a corner kick from
Courtney Crivelli (Beaver, Pa./Beaver), who tallied her third assist of the season.
Katie Hahn tallied her team-leading fifth goal of the season to stretch the W&J lead to 3-0 in the 36th minute of play. Hahn's goal was assisted by Brown.
The GT's managed to get on the board with an unassisted goal by Lydia Beare in the 38th minute. For the first time all season, the Presidents took a multi-goal lead into halftime, as the Red and Black maintained a 3-1 advantage.
McKenna Lewis (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) got into the act in the 50th minute, as she scored her first goal of the season. Hahn assisted the Lewis score.
Geneva trimmed the deficit to 4-2 with an unassisted score by Lillie Berryman in the 66th minute.
W&J put the game away with a Crivelli goal in the 77th minute. The goal was the first of Crivelli's career.
The Presidents held slight advantages in shots (16-14) and corner kicks (6-4).
Brown, Crivelli and Hahn paced the offense, as all three finished with a goal and an assist in the win.
Gabriella Lloyd (Butler, Pa./Butler) recorded four saves in 90 minutes of work in the net. Lloyd improves her season record to 6-4.
W&J travels to Bethany College for its regular season finale on Tuesday, Oct. 26. Start time is set for 4 p.m.
