WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College volleyball team was defeated by a 3-0 score by visiting Westminster College Tuesday evening at the Salvitti Family Gymnasium.
The loss drops the Presidents to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in PAC play. Westminster moves to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in league contests.
The Titans earned set victories of 25-15, 25-12 and 25-13 for the sweep.
The freshmen duo of
Lizzie Carmichael (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) and
Lauren Gill (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) recorded seven kills apiece. Carmichael hit .278 while Gill was successful on seven-of-13 swings for a .462 hitting average.

Katie Conner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) registered a team-high 13 digs to pace W&J's defensive efforts. Junior setter
Alexis Tomassini (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) tallied 19 assists.
Becky Adelman led Westminster with 13 kills and 6.0 total blocks in the three-set victory.
W&J will look to rebound when they host Saint Vincent College on Saturday, March 6. Start time is slated for 2 p.m. W&J will honor Conner prior to the match as part of Senior Recognition festivities.
