Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Three second half goals highlight Men's Soccer's 4-0 win over Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. -- Three second half goals helped the Washington & Jefferson College men's soccer team to a dominant 4-0 victory Sunday at Saint Vincent in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match.

The win improves W&J to 2-0 in PAC play. Saint Vincent drops to 1-1 in conference play and 1-2 overall.

The two teams nearly played through a scoreless and uneventful first half. However, W&J was able to take a 1-0 edge when Thomas Einolf (Carlisle, Pa./Middletown) scored off of a pass from Jake Rajotte (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill) in the 45th minute.

That momentum carried over into the second half, as W&J kept the pressure on offensively. The Presidents drew a penalty kick opportunity in the 55th minute. Freshman Jayden Da (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) doubled the Presidents lead with a successful PK to push the lead to 2-0.

Da tacked on another goal in the 64th minute when he scored off of a pass from Nicholas Maknoon (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton).

Joel Winters (Mockville, Va./Calvary Day School) closed the scoring with an unassisted tally in the 69th minute of play. That goal gave W&J its third goal of the second half and helped secured the 4-0 victory.

Ian Donlon (Latham, N.Y./Albany Academies) got the start in goal and worked all 90 minutes. The senior keeper recorded a save on the lone shot attempt on goal.

W&J has scored four goals in each of its game thus far this season. W&J held a 13-4 edge in shots. The Presidents put six on goal while the Bearcats placed two on net.

W&J hosts Chatham University on Saturday, March 27. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Alexandre Stadium.
