WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's tennis team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match to Franciscan 6-3 at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
W&J falls to 0-3 on the season while Franciscan rises to 1-1, 1-0 in PAC play.
Seniors
Nate Wang (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and
Sam Bellini (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) accounted for all three W&J victories on the day. The duo combined for a 8-6 victory at top doubles.
Wang earned a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles over Franciscan's Gary Pierre. Bellini topped Luke Conrad 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
The Presidents No. 3 doubles grouping of
James Gunn (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) and
Brenden Head (Tustin, Calif./El Capitan) battled but fell 8-4.
W&J returns to action April 14 at Grove City.
