NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's lacrosse team raced past Westminster College by a 23-9 score in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match Saturday afternoon.
The victory improved the Presidents to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the PAC. The Titans dropped to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in league action.
The Presidents raced out to a 14-7 halftime lead before outscoring the Titans by a 9-2 over the final 30 minutes.
Sarah Labovitz (Great Falls, Va./The Bullis School) tallied a career-high 11 points to pace W&J. Labovitz scored seven goals and added four assists in the victory. Labovitz added 10 ground balls, seven caused turnovers and six draw controls.
Amanda Effland (Frederick, Md./Frederick) continued her strong play with six goals and four assists for a total 10 points.
Becca Ghion (Sutersville, Pa./Yough) chipped in four goals and three draw control while
Aisa Uhler (East Lancing, Mich./East Lansing) logged a five-point effort (3 goals, 2 assists).
Kaitlyn Brown (Charlotte Hall, Md./La Plata) recorded eight saves in 60 minutes of action in goal.
W&J hosts Chatham University in a PAC match on Wednesday, April 14. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
