PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's soccer team dropped a 6-0 decision to 5th ranked Carnegie Mellon University in non-conference play at Gesling Stadium Wednesday evening.
Fresh off its appearance in the 2019 NCAA Final Four, the Tartans raced to a 4-0 halftime lead behind a 17-0 shot advantage in the first half. Alana Frederick got the scoring started in the first two minutes of play. Just one minute later, Alex Adams scored the second goal making it a 2-0 advantage in the first four minutes of play.
Carnegie Mellon carried the momentum into the second half, as the Tartans scored goals in the 56th and 88th minute, respectively. Â
The Tartans held statistical advantages in shots (31-0), shots on goal (13-0), and corner kicks (11-1).

Gabriella Lloyd (Butler, Pa./Butler) started in goal for the first 70 minutes and registered five saves. Sophomore
Abby Hipkins (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) came into goal for the last twenty minutes and registered two saves.
W&J returns home on Saturday, Sept. 4Â for a non-conference game against St. John Fisher. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
