BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Washington & Jefferson College volleyball team dropped a pair of Presidents' Athletic Conference matches on Saturday afternoon at Bethany College.
Bethany 3, W&J 0 (20-25, 25-15, 25-16)
W&J struggled offensively as they recorded 19 hitting errors.
Lizzie Carmichael (Wyoming, Ohio/ Wyoming) recorded the match-high with seven total blocks. Sophomore libero
Gianna Platt (Pittsburgh, Pa./OLSH) recorded the match-high digs (13). Senior setter
Alexis Tomassini (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) had eight assists.
Chatham 3, W&J 1 (25-20, 15-25, 24-26, 18-25)
W&J won the first set with a score of 25-20. However, W&J could not keep the momentum as Chatham claimed the next three sets to register the victory.
Once again, Carmichael tallied a match-high with four total blocks while Platt recorded a match-high 31 digs. Freshman
Kaitlyn DeLauter (Marysville, Ohio/North Union) and junior
Ashley Bertling (Berkley, Mich./ Berkley) added 17 and 16 digs, respectively. Tomassini finished with 17 assists.
W&J returns to action this on Wednesday, Sept. 15 when they face Waynesburg University. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
