W&J volleyball swept in PAC road match

WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- Offensive issues continued to plague the Washington & Jefferson College volleyball team in a 3-0 road loss to Waynesburg University in Presidents' Athletic Conference play Wednesday evening.

The host Yellow Jackets claimed the match by set scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-22.

The Presidents recorded just 17 kills and committed 26 attack errors in the straight set loss. The team-high leader in kills was freshman right side hitter Jaden Blough (Meyersdale, Pa./Meyersdale) with just four. Senior middle Ashley Kovel (Everett, Pa./Everett) tallied three total blocks to lead the Presidents at the net. Sophomore defensive specialist Gianna Platt (Pittsburgh, Pa./OLSH) recorded 10 digs.

W&J travels to The College of Wooster to compete in the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic on Friday, Sept. 17. The Presidents will face the host Fighting Scots at 3:30 p.m. before taking on Bluffton University at 6 p.m.
