GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson College field hockey team suffered a 3-0 loss on the road in non-conference play Tuesday at Kenyon College.
The Ladies controlled the game, as they out-shot the Presidents by a 22-8 margin (13-3 shots on goal). Kenyon nearly doubled up W&J in penalty corner opportunities, as they held a 13-6 advantage.
Orcin Akman opened the scoring for Kenyon with a goal in the 17th minute of play. The Ladies took a 1-0 lead into halftime before adding two more goals in the second half to put the game away.
Bella Kern tallied an unassisted goal in the 38th minute of action to allow Kenyon to double its lead. Kenyon put the game out of reach with an unassisted score from Sarah Metzmaier in the 49th minute of play.

Hailey Wachowiak (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) and senior midfielder
Madeline Hubbard (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) recorded one shot apiece.

Anastasia Godat (Baltimore, Md./Concordia Prepatory School) matched a season high with 10 saves in the loss.
The Presidents return home to face Houghton College for an Empire 8 match on Saturday, Sept. 18. Start time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
