HIRAM, Ohio -- Sophomore
Maddie Dittrich (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) scored her first collegiate goal as she led Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Hiram College Saturday evening.
The late goal by Dittrich came in the 78th minute of action from a perfect pass from sophomore
Makenna Mann (Herndon, Va./ South Lakes). W&J made the lead stand up as the Terriors could not net the equalizer in the final 12 minutes of play.
Junior goalkeeper
Gabriella Lloyd (Butler, Pa. Butler) earned the victory in net after recording four saves in 90 minutes of play.
Offensively,
Peyton Behling (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) led the Presidents with three shots with two being shots on goal. While, sophomore
Katie Brown (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) registered three shots with one shot on goal.
W&J held a 16-to-10 advantage in shots and a commanding 9-0 edge in corner kicks.
The win improves W&J to 3-4 overall while Hiram falls 2-5.
W&J will travel to Marietta, Ohio to face off against Marietta College on Wednesday, September 22. The game is scheduled to start at 7 PM.
