MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 nonconference decision at Allegheny College on Saturday, Sept. 4.
The Presidents dropped all three doubles matches to open the day. The Presidents lost on a tiebreaker (8-7) at third doubles with
Victoria Wilson (Butler, Pa./North Catholic) and
Jaelyn Kennedy (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) falling just short of victory.
Senior
Maya Krishnasamy (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) coasted to a straight-set victory 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles position. NewcomerÂ
Nidhi Pulicherla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) pulled out a victory at No. 2 singles in a third-set tiebreaker (6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (10-7).Â
The loss brings the Presidents to a 0-1 overall, while the Gators increase their overall mark to 1-0.
W&J is scheduled to open Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Sunday, Sept. 12 against Waynesburg at 2:00 PM .Â
