MARIETTA, Ohio. -- The Washington & Jefferson indoor track & field teams had a successful meet day full of personal bests and broken records at the Marietta Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Men
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls,Pa./Riverside) recorded a pair of runner-up finishes to lead the way.
Sciarro set a new indoor personal best in the long jump with a leap of 6.98 meters, which would currently rank 14th in Division III. Later in the day, he went on to tie the school indoor record in the high jump with his mark of 1.90 meters.
Paul Collier (Heath, Ohio/Heath) won the 5K with his time of 16:41. Additionally, Collier placed sixth in the 1000 meters at 2:56.44.
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh,Pa./Montour) ran to a second place finish in the 1000 meters with his time of 2:42.16 This time places Paul fourth place in W&J school history.
The quartet of
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area), Paul,
Clay Yeager (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata), and
Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa./Butler) finished in third in the 4x4 relay, posting a time of 3:42.97.
Baughman reached the finals of the 55-meter hurdles and finished in seventh (8.77). That time puts him fourth on the PAC performance list.
Women
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) placed third in the 300 meter dash, setting a new school record with her time of 45.63. Additionally, Trusler placed fourth in the 400 meter dash. Trusler was the top Division III finisher in both the 300 Meters and the 400 Meters.
Faith Remich (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) won the women's 1000 meters by more than eight seconds with her time of 3:21.38.
Teammates,
Taylor Johnson (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) and
Ali Petrisek (Ellsworth, Pa./Bentworth) placed fifth and sixth in the 300 meter dash, respectively. Johnson recorded a time of 48.58 while Petrisek clocked in a time of 48.98.
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) ran to a third place finish to place as the top Division III competitor in the Mile Run (5:35.62). The time ranks as the second best in the PAC this seadson. Remich finished fifth with a time of 5:39.90 in the Mile.
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) finished fourth in the long jump recording a distance of 4.77 meters.
The quartet of Hartner, Johnson, Remich, and Trusler placed second in the 4x4 relay, posting a time of 4:34.37.
W&J returns to competition at the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invite on Friday, Jan. 28-29. Friday is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time while Saturday is slated for a 10 a.m. start time.
