GREENWOOD, Ind. – Five members of the Washington & Jefferson College women's cross country and track & field programs were recognized with Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators. The organization announced the list of honorees on Tuesday (June 24).
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Track & Field / Cross Country Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.
The CSC Academic All- America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All- America® honorees will be announced July 15-16. The women's honorees will be released on July 15 while the men's list will be unveiled a day later.
Earning the honors for the men's team were
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown),
Chloe LoCastro (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township),
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio/Lordstown),
Katie Kovalchick (Shelocta, Pa./Indiana Area) and
Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy). Anderson is a repeat All-District honoree. This is the first time that LoCastro, Schneider, Kovalchick and Gilles have obtained the honor from the organization. Anderson advances to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
Eligible nominees were based off of
TFRRS performance list rankings at the time of nomination. If a student-athlete has participated in a relay event which is ranked in the Top 50, that can bolster a nomination but the basic criteria to be met is for individual performances.
In addition, student-athletes must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher and be a sophomore, junior or senior.
