Outdoor Track & Field Wraps Dual-Meet Weekend

The Washington & Jefferson College track & field teams wrapped competition at the Mountaineer Showcase hosted by Division I West Virginia University and the 56th Sparky Adams Invitational hosted by Baldwin Wallace.
 
Nick DeSanto (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Griffin Burnett (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Park) led the W&J men's team at the Mountaineer Showcase. DeSanto won the high jump with a mark just under his new school record, finishing with a top jump of 1.89 meters (6' 2.25"). Burnett won the javelin throw with a top throw of 50.26 meters (164' 10").
 
Tavan Schoenberger (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) also had a productive day at WVU on Friday in the jump events. Schoenberger finished second in the long jump with a distance of 6.34 meters (20' 9.75") and second in the triple jump with a top jump of 13.09 meters (42' 11.50").
 
Chloe LoCastro (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) led the W&J women at the Mountaineer Showcase. The senior won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:31.58.
 
Katie Kovalchick (Shelocta, Pa./Indiana Area) led the women's team in all throwing events. The junior dual-sport athlete finished second in the javelin throw with a mark of 34.75 meters (114' 0") to highlight the night. Kovalchick also finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of  10.92 meters (35' 10").
 
Lainey Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) posted efficient performances in the hurdle events at WVU. Hartner highlighted her day placing second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.84. The sophomore also finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a mark of 17.17.
 
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio/Lordstown) led the Presidents efforts at the 56th Sparky Adams Invitational. Schneider's best event came in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing second with a time of 15 seconds. She also took seventh in the long jump with a top leap of 5.12 meters (16' 9.75").
 
Anand Karamcheti (Washington, Pa./Washington) led the men at the Baldwin Wallace hosted invitational. Karamcheti took sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.27. Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers) just missed the 100-meter dash finals, taking ninth place with a time of 10.91.
 
The W&J track & field teams look to get back on the track on Friday (April 24) at the 21st Annual Paul Kaiser Track & Field Classic hosted by Division II Shippensburg. Action is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 p.m.
