LA CROSSE, Wis. – Washington & Jefferson College track & field senior
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) ran her way to a second First Team All-American honor at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships by finishing sixth in the 5,000-meter run.
The senior raced to sixth place with a time of 16:36.23. Anderson had to dig deep and come from behind by passing eight runners in the final mile to come across the line in the top eight. Anderson added three additional points to her total from the two distance running events.
This is the first time that a W&J track & field athlete has become an All-American in multiple events at the same championships since
Cheyenne Mangold '14 accomplished the feat during the 2013 Outdoor Championships. Additionally, Anderson becomes the first W&J runner to become an All-American in the 5,000-meter run.
Anderson finishes up her outdoor track & field career as a three-time Presidents' Athletic Conference Outdoor Champion and a three-time qualifier to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. Additionally, the two-time All-American was a three-time member of the USTFCCCA All-Region outdoor runner. Anderson currently holds four individual outdoor school records and two PAC outdoor conference records.
