NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. --
Nidhi Pulicherla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and
Bella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) each recorded a pair of victories but the Washington & Jefferson women's tennis team suffered a 5-3 defeat at Westminster College in Tuesday's Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
The duo teamed up to claim a commanding 8-2 victory at first doubles over Emma Sukal and Gia Francisco. Pulicherla won at first singles 6-1, 6-2 while Goldman secured a 6-4, 6-4 win at second singles.
Westminster held a 2-1 lead after doubles play before securing victories at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles spots to take the match. The match at No. 6 singles went unfinished as the teams played the match to decision.
Eden Ma (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Upper St. Clair) had split the first two sets at the sixth spot.
The win advances the Titans to face top-seeded Allegheny College in Thursday's semifinals.
