WASHINGTON, Pa. -- A second half goal helped the Washington & Jefferson women's soccer team erase a halftime deficit and earn a 1-1 draw with the Geneva College Saturday afternoon in a conference match at Alexandre Stadium.
Geneva gained the first half lead when Saige Musser scored off a pass from Julia Robertson in the 21st minute.
The Presidents would come out aggressively attacking various portions of the Geneva back line and finally found an opening when freshman
Audrey Chapman (Elkins Park, Pa. / Phil-Mont Christian Academy) scored just three-plus minutes into the second half. This marked the second consecutive game that Chapman has scored.
Neither the Presidents nor the Golden Tornadoes scored over the final 40 minutes of the game after trading a multitude of shots. W&J held the shot advantage (22-11), shots on goal (10-7), and corner kicks (8-2).
Senior goalkeeper
Gabriella Lloyd (Butler, Pa. / Butler) finished the game with six saves in 90 total minutes of work.
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio / Lordstown) and
Katie Brown (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) finished with five shots apiece.
The Red & Black travel to Westminster for a night match on Wednesday, October 19. The conference bout will start at 5 p.m.
