BETHANY, W. Va. -- The Washington & Jefferson men's soccer team got shutout at Bethany by a 2-0 score in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match Saturday afternoon at Bison Stadium.
Neither team was able to crack the scoreboard in the first half, as the teams entered halftime scoreless through the first 45 minutes.
The Bison snapped the scoreless streak in the 60th minute of play as Sebastian Arrocain found the back of the net to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Bethany would tack on an insurance goal to cushion their lead en route to a 2-0 victory.
Both units registered comparable shot totals by the last horn as Bethany held a slight shot advantage (12-10) and shots on goal (8-5) while W&J held the slim advantage in corner kicks (3-2).
Sophomore goalkeeper
Charles Boldosser (Westminster, Md. / South Carroll) registered another full 90 minutes of play. He finished with six saves on the night.
A three-way tie of
Parker Byas (Columbia, Md./Mount Saint Joseph),
Ethan Bowser (McKeesport, Pa. / Elizabeth Forward), and
Zach Bowser (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver Area) led all players for the Presidents with two shots apiece.
The Red & Black hosts Grove City for an night match on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The conference bout will start at 8 p.m.
