LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's water polo team dropped an 8-5 decision to Austin College Saturday in a match at the MPSF Championships. The three-day event is being hosted by USC at Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
The 'Roos led by a 2-1 margin after the first quarter of play. Freshman
Aidan Miller (Grove City, Ohio / St. Charles Prep) tallied the lone first quarter goal for W&J. Austin then scored both second quarter goals to take a 4-1 advantage into halftime.
Austin put distance between themselves and W&J by scoring four of the five third quarter goals. The Presidents' lone goal of the third came from
Andrew Edwards (Bexley, Ohio/St. Charles Prep).
Aidan Johnson (Nassau, Bahamas/Windsor) scored with 6:33 left to make it 8-3.
Elijah Muzzi (Honolulu, Hawaii / Punahou) found the back of the net twice down the stretch as W&J closed the gap to 8-5 before falling.
Caine Dusza (Souderton, Pa./Souderton) put together a strong effort in goal with 13 saves.
W&J concludes the MPSF Championships and its season Sunday with a match versus Penn State Behrend at 12:30 PM ET/9:30 AM PT.
