Men's Lacrosse travels to Kenyon for non-conference match

GAMBIER, Ohio -- A strong first quarter powered Kenyon College to a 16-4 win over the visiting Washington & Jefferson in a Division III non-conference men's lacrosse match Wednesday afternoon.

Alex Strain (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) led W&J with two goals in the loss. Parker Lucas (Delmar, Del./Delmar) and Zach Mey (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) notched one goal each for the Red & Black.

Kenyon would be the only team to score in the first quarter, registering six goals over the initial 15 minutes. Strain scored the first goal for W&J with 10:30 remaining in the second quarter. Kenyon's Ethan Dewbrey and Leo Cowie would answer by each scoring one goal for the Lords to head into half with a 9-1 advantage over the Presidents.

Lucas and Strain both scored in the third but W&J was outscored by a 5-2 margin in the quarter. Mey concluded the scoring for W&J with an unassisted goal in the fourth.

Junior goalkeeper Henry Beardwood (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum School) recorded 18 saves throughout 60 minutes of action in net for W&J. Luke Geister (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and James Deiuliis (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Upper Saint Clair) registered six ground balls each to pace the Presidents.

W&J will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 26 as they travel to Frederick, Maryland to face Hood College at 12 p.m.
