ALLIANCE, Ohio --
Cassie Carr (Girard, Ohio) and
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) tallied first place finishes to highlight the day for the Washington & Jefferson College Indoor Track & Field team at the Jim Wuske Invitational, which was hosted by the University of Mount Union Saturday.
Women's Recap
Carr earned first place in the 3000 Meters by posting a time of 11:04.21 Her teammate,
Faith Remich (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell), placed second in the 3000 with a time of 11:24.95 to give W&J the top two finishers in the event.
Carr went on to earn fifth place in the 5000 Meters, as she completed her busy day with a time of 19:27.99.
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) raced to a season-best time of 1:04.37 to place fourth in the 400 Meters. Trusler was also a member of W&J's 4x400 Relay team that finished as runner-ups behind only Division II Pitt-Johnstown.
Taylor Johnson (Lower Burrell, Pa. / Burrell), Carr,
Ali Petrisek (Ellsworth, Pa./Bentworth) and Trusler clocked in with a time of 4:31.97 in the event.
Savannah Sevacko (Crafton, Pa./Carlynton), the reigning PAC Women's Rookie of the Week, placed inside the top 10 in both the Triple Jump and the Long Jump. Sevacko was second in the triple jump with a mark of 10.53 meters, trailing only Rachel Horrell of Division II IUP. Sevacko added an eighth place performance in the Long Jump, coming in with a leap of 4.64 meters.
Kiersten Walther (Washington, Pa./Trinity) placed ninth in the Weight Throw (11.48 meters) and 13th in the Shot Put with a new personal best of 9.90 meters.
Men's Recap
Paul highlighted things on the men's side with a first place performance in the 800 Meters. The first-year clocked in with a time of 2:01.99. His teammate,
Clay Yeager (Mifflintown, Pa. / Juniata), placed seventh (2:04.80) in the 800.
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa. / Beth-Center) was fourth in the 1000 Meters with a time of 2:48.52. His teammate,
Brock Pennington (North East, Pa. / North East), was right behind as his time of 2:48.55 earned him fifth in the 1000.
Four Presidents placed in the top 13 in the Mile Run. Paul was fifth (4:31.97),
Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa. / Butler) placed ninth at 4:38.85, Sinclair was 11th (4:42.58) and Pennington was 13th (4:47.62).
Paul Collier (Heath, Ohio / Heath) earned a fifth place finish in the 5000 Meters. The junior clocked in with a season-best time of 16:29.27.
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa. / Oxford Area) earned a spot in the 60-meter hurdles finals by placing ninth (9.02) in prelims. Baughman then registered an eighth place performance in the finals with a personal-best time of 8.96.
Baughman, Paul, Pennington and Dressler helped W&J place fifth in the 4x400 Relay with a time of 3:39.37.
W&J returns to competition on Friday, Feb. 11 at the Baldwin Wallace Mid-February Meet.
