WASHINGTON, Pa. -- W&J junior
Amanda Effland (Frederick, Md./Frederick) scored five goals in a 20-8 non-conference loss to visiting Mount Union in Division III women's lacrosse action Wednesday evening.
W&J trailed by a 4-2 margin before a big second quarter extended the Mount Union lead to 13-5 at halftime. The Purple Raiders scored seven of the 10 second half goals to close out the victory.

Sofia Jenkins (Hughesville, Md./The Calverton School) registered three points (1g, 2a) in the loss. Junior midfielder
Sarah Labovitz (Great Falls, Va./The Bullis School) finished with seven draw controls and three ground balls. Senior midfielder
Clara Sherwood (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) had five draw controls, five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Freshman defender
Ella Phillips (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) caused four turnovers.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Kaitlyn Brown (Charlotte Hall, Md./La Plata) made 16 saves for the Presidents in net.
W&J travels to Juniata College for a non-conference match on Saturday, March 5. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
