Bethany, W.VA. -- A select group of members of the Washington & Jefferson Track & Field team competed Saturday afternoon at the Bethany Invitational in Bethany, West Virginia over Spring Break.
W&J competed in the meet shorthanded due to Spring Break. The men finished in ninth out of 12 teams while the women finished in 11th out of 14 teams.
Men
Declan Fricko (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) jumped to a second place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.80 meters.
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) finished second in the 110 meter hurdles with his time of 15.96 seconds. Additionally, Baughman picked up another second place finish in the 400 hurdles clocking in a time of 59.03.
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour),
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth-Center) and
Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa./Butler) all finished in the top 10 in the 1500. Paul clocked in a 4:15.01, Sinclair raced to a 4:18.64 while Dressler finished with a 4:22.99.
Garrett Hampton (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) was W&J's lone thrower on Saturday. Hampton heaved a solid mark of 29.13 meters in the discuss throw to land him towards the top half of the throwers.
Clay Yeager (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) finished in the top half in the 5000 with his time of 17:08.33.
Women
For the women,
Faith Remich (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) picked up a second place finish for W&J in the 5000 with her time of 20:14.19 while
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) finished fourth in the 400 meters with her time of 65.52.
W&J returns to action next Saturday, April 2 at the West Liberty Invitational. The meet is scheduled for an 9 a.m. start time.
