CHIPPEWA, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss to Geneva College Saturday in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at Blackhawk Courts in Beaver County.
W&J dropped all three doubles matches. The closest the Presidents came to victory in doubles play was an 8-7 (7-5) tiebreaker defeat at the number three spot, as the Geneva tandem edged
Joseph Panahandeh (Murrysville, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) and
Nolan Rehrig (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area).Â
Rehrig picked up W&J's lone win of the day at number six singles. The sophomore needed a third set tiebreaker after claiming the first set by a 6-2 score and falling 6-2 in the second set. Rehrig delivered a 10-4 victory in the third to claim the victory.Â
W&J closes the regular season at Waynesburg University on Sunday, April 24.Â
