GROVE CITY, Pa. -- First place Grove City College breezed to a 29-5 victory over the Washington & Jefferson College men's lacrosse team in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at Robert E. Thorn Field on Tuesday evening.
The Wolverines led 10-1 after the first quarter and 19-1 at halftime. Grove City outscored W&J by a 10-4 margin over the final 30 minutes.
Alex Strain (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) posted two goals, an assist and five ground balls.
Sean McCaffrey (Silver Spring, Md. / Albert Einstein),
Parker Lucas (Delmar, Del. / Delmar) and
Aiden Herman (West End, N.C. / Pinecrest) also found the scoring column in the loss.
Luke Geister (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led W&J with 10 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Henry Beardwood (Wilmington, Del. / Salesianum School) made nine saves in goal for the Presidents.
A total of 16 Wolverines scored in the contest. Trenton Steele posted a six-point effort for the home team.
Grove City is 12-4 overall and 6-0 in PAC play. W&J is 1-5 in the PAC and 5-8 overall.
W&J concludes the 2022 season Saturday with Senior Day against Bethany College. Face-off with the Bison is set for 1 p.m.
