LATROBE, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's soccer team traveled to Saint Vincent on Saturday afternoon and played through 90 scoreless minutes to earn its fourth tie in 2022. Neither the Presidents or the Bearcats were able to to find the back of the net in Saturday's contest.
The Presidents won the shot differential in the first half as they out-shot Saint Vincent 5-3. The Presidents held a 3-0 edge in the corner kicks through in the first half but were unable to register a goal on those chances. W&J was a little more productive in the second half, as they managed eight shots over the final 45 minutes.
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio / Lordstown) and
Kayla Daugherty (Prospect, Pa. / Slippery Rock Area) led the team with three shots apiece. Freshman
Selah Calacan (Waldorf, Md. / North Point) also contributed to the Presidents offensive attack by leading the team in shots on goal with two.
Abby Hipkins (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) got the start while not registering a save due to the defensive prowess of the Presidents in the first half.
Gabriella Lloyd (Butler, Pa./Butler) played the second half and made six saves to preserve the shutout.
The Presidents now move to 2-1-4 (1-0-1 PAC) on the season while the Bearcats move to 4-3-1 (0-1-1 PAC) after Saturday's match.
The Presidents journey back to Washington, Pa. to host two-time defending PAC champion Chatham on Wednesday, Sept. 7 with a scheduled kickoff of 6 p.m.
