LATROBE, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis team downed host Saint Vincent by a 7-2 score in Latrobe, Pa. during a conference match on Saturday afternoon. The victory was the first win of the season for W&J. 

Nidhi Pulicherla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and Bella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) edged Carolina Walters and Angela Popovich by an 8-7 (7-5) score in a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles. The tandem of Jaelyn Kennedy (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) and Gloria Johnson (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) won by an almost identical outcome at No. 3 doubles, winning by an 8-6 score. 

Goldman breezed to a 6-2 and 6-1 victory at second singles. Kennedy worked for a 6-2, 6-4 win at the third singles spot. Victoria Wilson (Butler, Pa./North Catholic) fought to a 6-2, 7-6 win at No. 4 singles while Isabella Naddeo (Canonsburg, Pa./Trinity) was victorious by a 7-6, 6-1 score at No. 5 singles. Eden Ma (Pittsbrugh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) capped off the singles matches for the Presidents with a third-set tiebreaker victory to help W&J finish with five victories in singles play.

W&J hosts Grove City on Monday, Sept. 26 at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.
