WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's tennis shut out the visiting Waynesburg Yellow Jackets by a 9-0 score in Washington, Pa. during a conference match on Friday afternoon. This victory was the second conference win of the season for W&J. 

Nidhi Pulicherla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and Bella Goldman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) managed a win against Hayley Sweeney and Marina Hastings by an 8-2 score at No. 1 doubles. The duo of Jaelyn Kennedy (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) and Gloria Johnson (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) won 8-0 at second doubles, as well as Eden Ma (Pittsbrugh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) and Pooja Potluri (West Fargo, N.D./West Fargo) as they also an 8-0 shut out at third doubles. 

Pulicherla cruised to a 6-0, 6-1victory at first singles. Victoria Wilson (Butler, Pa./North Catholic) saw great success in her first match at second singles this season, posting a decisive 6-2 and 6-1 win. Kennedy remained strong for W&J at third singles, as she won her match 6-0, 6-0 as she did not concede a point to the Yellow Jackets. Emma Humphrey (Butler, Pa./North Catholic) made an appearance at No. 4 singles and posted a victory by scores of 6-0, 6-1. Isabella Naddeo (Canonsburg, Pa./Trinity) continued to impress, as the freshman took a commanding victory of the Yellow Jackets 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles. Ma capped off the singles matches for the Presidents with a No. 6 singles win by default, to complete the shutout win for W&J.

W&J has three scheduled matches for the weekend. The Presidents travel to Penn State Altoona on Friday, Oct. 7.
